The Science of Brain: Harnessing the power of Dopamine and Habit

"Mind is the Master-power that moulds and makes" Have you ever heard of this?

Throughout my junior high school year, I fully immersed myself in the science of mind and its effect on our circumstances, so I would like to give you a glimpse of my discovery of how the elements of our brain can make our life the way it is and shape almost every act of our lives. Have you ever questioned how the wrong condition of mind could make us suffer, lose our happiness, and let us live in such bondage and unrest? Just like being in the same situation as in school life, students can be happy so long as they do their lessons correctly.

It's my experience that many people live with the tormentor in their head that continuously attacks, punishes, and drains them of vital energy, so the question is, what characterizes such a state of mind?

We do indeed start life with the gift of our genes, and we should also consider that we become capable through the learning and improving of our mental models that enable us to reason, solve, and create, indicating that the elements that shape our intellectual abilities almost lie with a surprising effect of our control.

Let me now unpack what I have learned from scientific research, so I want you to make room to process my information and calculate it!

When I first heard of Huberman's podcast on Dopamine baseline, it refined my understanding of the relationship between dopamine in our brain and our focus trajectory.

Modern science provides evidence that dopamine has a biological connection to motivation and focus, showing that it is what keeps us alert on tasks. So understanding this enables you to dig deeper into the realm of brain science. Dopamine is famously known as the pleasure and reward neuromodulator. So the logic here is that almost all patterns of our habits are affected by the amounts of dopamine circulating in our brains. The Dopamine baseline is the amount of dopamine that circulates continuously in our brain and body. There are two modes of dopamine release: Tonic and phasic. The tonic release is the low-level baseline that circulates in our brain and is responsible for our focus and motivation. And the other form of dopamine release is phasic. Phasic is the high-level release of dopamine that peaks above the baseline. The tonic release of dopamine mainly involves when we predict the rewards that we will gain provided that this release influences our motivation, so after we accomplish such a task and get the award, we will then experience the pleasing feeling that is the release of phasic dopamine. So these are the two modes of dopamine release that ride our desire and deep enjoyment in doing our work. Well, that's only a small part of what it does.

What dopamine really does is, it orchestrates our thought processes when we think of the things we want to do but for some reason, we cannot. Because dopamine is always going to be just out of sight. More research is showing that we tend to repeat habits that will cause dopamine to be released. So our motivation and craving are deeply entwined at all levels. And imagining what our brain does helps us to go towards the work we might have. Therefore, these discoveries clearly show how humans are subject to the law of habit.

I hope this discovery changes your understanding of how the patterns of our habits and cravings are linked primarily to the function of the brain.
